πŸ’• The Romance & Relationship

Dani and Levi were a bit lackluster whereas Daisy and Vi were a hopeless romantic’s dream. How I see it is Daisy and Vi are childhood friends that got their second chance; they remember every small detail and habit about the other and never stopped loving each other. Dani and Levi, on the other hand, had a lot of insecurities and miscommunication that made you wonder if they’d ever get on the same page.

πŸ‘₯ The Characters

Dani (Daisy)

Dani is such a relatable character as someone in their early twenties. I love that she didn’t feel the need to change everything about herself. After moving to a new place, starting a new school, and not having her childhood friend anymore, she’s still a lover girl and always shows it.Β

For example, getting bagels and remembering to get dairy-free for her classmates who are lactose intolerant, bringing flowers and/or treats for the waiter at the restaurant her friends always go to, and not hesitating to always help out with Levi’s sisters. She doesn’t have to do any of those things, but she does because she loves to!

Levi (Vi)

I feel like everyone loves Levi because he’s a walking green flag, but he fell flat for me. Your best friend you’ve known for years (and secretly loved) is crying at the dance and you go kiss someone else a few minutes after?? I get that he was a teenager, but I think that just left an impression of his character that I couldn’t shake.

Bella

I know we’re not supposed to like Bella, but she wasn’t really present in the story enough to even dislike her. I honestly forgot she was there for the most part.

Friends & Family

There were so many supporting characters, for both Dani and Levi! I honestly loved that they both had such wholesome and caring friends and family members. Each of them had their own characteristics that made them lovable.

✍️ The Setting & Style

What I Loved:

There are SO many details throughout the book! It’s incredibly descriptive and vivid, as if a movie is playing through your head while you read it. I also love that the overall tone of the book is romcom coded.

What Could’ve Been Better:

From my perspective, I honestly wanted a bit more of Levi and Dani being a real couple before the big romantic gesture at the end. Everything led up to that moment, y’know?
